Poetry Forge

Branding & Squarespace Design
Spring 2020

Poetry Forge offers workshops for writers who want to create and publish poems, manuscripts, and make more space for poetry in daily life, founded by poet Holly Wren Spaulding. Our goal in working together was to create a new brand that reflected Poetry Forge’s values, an evolved visual language that reflected Poetry Forge’s past and future growth, and to create a design that walks the line between experimentation + collage and beauty + space.

I drew inspiration from many images that Holly shared with me as well as ink, paper, and the natural elements we are surrounded by day to day.

After we finished Poetry Forge’s brand, I assisted Holly in designing selected pages of her new Squarespace site using Poetry Forge’s new brand elements. I continue to partner with her often to design worksheets, course avatars for her offerings, and graphics to support those offerings.

I committed to a business rebrand with Annie after two years of admiring what she had done for a friend’s small business. I have enjoyed every aspect of the process, but especially her steady and reassuring manner, creativity, sensitivity, and easy-to-navigate framework. She’s an outstanding listener—I felt she worked hard to understand what I wanted and needed with this brand—and highly perceptive in ways that translated into what she made for me. I feel so well resourced as I prepare to use her ideas and designs to refresh my website, social presence, and printed materials. Annie is a truly rare professional. I could not give her a higher recommendation.
