2 Lives Podcast is a series of well produced audio stories about people who have transformed their lives as a result of facing darkness. The podcast was created by Laurel Morales, a reporter and writer who believes wholly in the power of telling our stories.

When we began our discovery session, Laurel talked a lot about the vibe of 2 Lives being similar to seeing rays of light breaking through water when you’re underneath the surface. It’s about the hope and inspiration that you feel after listening to the stories and seeing the ways that folks pulled through their own darkness. Channeling this, I started by creating a beautiful cover image with layered waves and sunbursts. To match, I created a custom, handmade wordmark as well crafted as the podcast itself. I created backgrounds and other elements to support the brand and use throughout social media templates and the 2 Lives website.

Laurel wanted to host the podcast on Squarespace, as well as on the major podcast platforms. I applied the new 2 Lives brand to a custom Squarespace site, setting it up to take donations for the fledgling podcast, as well as accept story submissions, and tell the 2 Lives’ story in a well crafted way that aligns with the brand goals of the podcast itself. I used a blog format to host each episode of the podcast individually, which can be scrolled through from the home page. To accompany each episode for season one, which Laurel had already finished, I illustrated portraits in the 2 Lives palette for each person who told their story through the podcast. Laurel continued to hire me for this service through the fourth season of her podcast.
